Privacy policy

Last updated October 2026

This is an independent study site for DECA competitors. It is not affiliated with DECA Inc. This page explains what we collect, why, and who else sees it.

What we collect

  • Your account: your name, email, state or province, DECA area or region, and school. If you sign in with a password, we store only a secure hash of it, never the password itself. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
  • Your study progress: practice questions you answer, exam and drill results, the events you choose, your study plan, and conversations with the AI tutor.
  • Work you save: portfolio items, projects, research plans, role-play scenarios with your answers and feedback, and presentation feedback.
  • Documents you review: when you upload a written entry or a slide deck, the PDF stays on your device. We store only the text taken from it and the feedback.
  • Videos: a presentation video is never uploaded or stored. Your browser takes a few still frames and the audio. The audio is turned into text, and the frames and text are used once to judge your presentation. We keep the transcript and the feedback, not the video, frames or audio.
  • Technical data: your IP address is used briefly to limit how many AI requests can be made per hour. It is held in memory, not saved to our database.

How AI features use your data

The tutor, role-play judge, presentation judge, research planner and written-entry review send the text you provide (plus slide previews and video frames, when you add them) to OpenAI to generate a response. OpenAI processes this to provide the service and, under its API terms, does not use it to train its models. Please do not put personal information about other people into these tools.

Cookies

  • Sign-in cookies keep you logged in.
  • A project cookie remembers which portfolio project you are working on until you close your browser.
  • Advertising cookies. This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads in Google's Ad Settings, and read how Google uses data from sites that use its services. Ads appear around the edges of pages. They never appear inside the AI tutor's conversation.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. It is shared only with the services that run the site: our hosting and database providers, OpenAI for the AI features, Google for sign-in (if you choose it) and for ads. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Students and age

The site is meant for high school and college DECA members. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account and saved work until you ask us to delete it. You can change your profile on your account page. To delete your account and everything saved with it, or to ask a question about this policy, email isaacyucollege@gmail.com.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
