ENTREPRENEURSHIP CLUSTER
Cluster Exam §17 · pages 16–17
17. ENTREPRENEURSHIP CLUSTER Entrepreneurship should be modeled differently from management. Management asks: "How do we operate an organization effectively?" Entrepreneurship asks: "How do we recognize an opportunity, create value, build a viable organization and grow it under uncertainty?" DECA describes Entrepreneurship Series competitors as recognizing opportunities, determining needs, identifying markets, using marketing research, identifying capital sources and applying management skills. 2026–27 Entrepreneurship blueprint Area District Associatio n ICDC Business Law 4 4 3 Channel Management 3 3 3 Communications 1 0 1 Customer Relations 1 1 1 Economics 3 3 2 Emotional Intelligence 6 6 4 Entrepreneurship 14 13 14 Financial Analysis 10 9 11 HR Management 5 4 4 Information Management 4 3 2 Marketing 1 1 1 Marketing-Information Management 2 3 2 Market Planning 5 6 6 Operations 13 13 14 Pricing 2 3 2 Product/Service Management 4 4 4 Professional Development 5 5 4 Promotion 6 7 8 Quality Management 1 1 1 Risk Management 2 3 4 Selling 1 1 1 Strategic Management 7 7 8 Entrepreneurship is unusually broad. Students need meaningful knowledge of: entrepreneurship + finance + operations + strategy + marketing.
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT & ADMINISTRATION CLUSTER BMA
Cluster Exam §14 · pages 12–13
14. BUSINESS MANAGEMENT & ADMINISTRATION CLUSTER BMA concerns making organizations operate effectively. DECA describes BMA professionals as responsible for ensuring organizational functions operate efficiently and meet short- and long-term objectives. Career pathways include administrative services, business information management, general management, HR management and operations management. BMA instructional areas The current DECA framework includes: Business Law, Communications, Compliance, Customer Relations, Economics, Emotional Intelligence, Entrepreneurship, Financial Analysis, Human Resources Management, Information Management, Knowledge Management, Marketing, Operations, Professional Development, Project Management, Quality Management, Risk Management and Strategic Management. 2026–27 BMA exam blueprint Area District Associatio n ICDC Business Law 5 5 5 Communications 7 6 6 Customer Relations 2 2 1 Economics 6 5 4 Emotional Intelligence 9 8 6 Entrepreneurship 1 0 0 Financial Analysis 7 6 5 HR Management 1 0 0 Information Management 7 6 6 Knowledge Management 6 7 8 Marketing 1 1 1 Operations 21 24 26 Professional Development 6 5 4 Project Management 6 7 8 Quality Management 3 4 5 Risk Management 4 5 5 Strategic Management 8 9 10 The pattern is obvious: BMA becomes increasingly operations/strategy-oriented as competitors advance. ICDC BMA gives roughly one-quarter of the entire test to operations alone . Your adaptive system should reflect that.
BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION CORE
Cluster Exam §5 · pages 6–7
5. BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION CORE This should be treated as the foundation of everything else . DECA identifies these BAC instructional areas: Instructional area What students should understand Business Law Legal obligations, contracts, liability, regulation, intellectual property, employment basics Communications Speaking, listening, writing, workplace communication, communication channels Customer Relations Customer service, complaints, customer expectations, relationship building Economics Supply/demand, competition, economic systems, productivity, inflation, business cycles Emotional Intelligence Self-awareness, interpersonal skills, teamwork, conflict resolution, ethics, adaptability Entrepreneurship Entrepreneurial characteristics and basic venture concepts Financial Analysis Money, financial information, calculations, financial decision-making Human Resources Management Staffing and employee concepts Information Management Data collection, records, technology, information security Marketing Fundamental role and purpose of marketing Operations Day-to-day business processes and productivity Professional Development Careers, workplace behavior, goals, ethics and professional skills Strategic Management Long-term organizational direction and decision-making These are DECA's official BAC instructional areas. 2026–27 Business Administration Core exam blueprint This is particularly valuable for your AI because it tells you exactly what to prioritize. Instructional area District Associatio n ICDC Business Law 1 1 4 Communications 15 15 11 Customer Relations 5 5 4 Economics 7 7 12 Emotional Intelligence 22 22 19 Entrepreneurship 0 0 1 Financial Analysis 16 16 13 Human Resources Management 1 1 1 Information Management 10 10 11 Marketing 1 1 1 Operations 11 11 13 Professional Development 11 11 9 Strategic Management 0 0 1 This immediately tells your recommendation engine something important: BAC is not primarily a marketing exam. A student preparing for PMK, PFN or PHT should spend enormous amounts of time on: Emotional Intelligence → Financial Analysis → Communications → Operations → Information Management → Professional Development → Economics rather than memorizing advertising terminology.
DO NOT CREATE SEVEN COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT COURSES
Cluster Exam §64 · pages 60–61
64. DO NOT CREATE SEVEN COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT COURSES There is enormous overlap. For example: Economics appears in BAC, Marketing, Finance, Hospitality, BMA and Entrepreneurship. Emotional Intelligence appears almost everywhere. Financial Analysis appears almost everywhere. Instead, maintain one canonical concept: economics.price_elasticity and attach cluster-specific variations. Then: Marketing asks how elasticity affects pricing. Hospitality asks how demand affects hotel rates. Finance asks how macroeconomic conditions affect financial decisions. Entrepreneurship asks how pricing sensitivity affects a startup. This reduces contradictory information and improves model training.
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
Cluster Exam §8 · pages 9–9
8. EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE This is one of the most underrated DECA subjects and one of the largest parts of BAC. It encompasses: Self-awareness, self-control, initiative, adaptability, empathy, social awareness, respect, collaboration, negotiation, conflict resolution, leadership, teamwork, motivation, reliability, responsibility, professionalism, workplace ethics and handling criticism. The AI should understand principles such as: Listen before responding. Address problems privately and professionally. Separate the person from the problem. Seek mutually beneficial solutions. Take responsibility for mistakes. Do not escalate interpersonal conflict unnecessarily. A lot of DECA questions essentially ask: "What would a competent professional do?" That should be a distinct reasoning mode for the AI.
